LEEA Accreditation for Training

Essential courses in Lifting Operations are now available through LEEA accredited training centres.

On the 3rd July 2008 the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association proposed that a LEEA accredited training course scheme should be established based initially on a limited range of industrial lifting courses.  These courses would be presented by LEEA member companies to an agreed framework. Successful completion would result in the member company being awarded a LEEA accredited training centre certificate.

Geoff Holden, chief executive of LEEA, said:
“Effective training is essential for the safety, efficiency and legal compliance of overhead lifting operations. The accreditation scheme was designed to provide independent verification that training courses meet a set of rigorous criteria established by the LEEA. Only member companies that pass an audit by our technical officers will be allowed to display the LEEA Accredited Training Company logo, demonstrating to customers that their training facilities, instructors, course content and student assessment all meet the required standards.”

A sub-committee work group including Geoff Burkill from Carl Stahl Evita Ltd was involved in setting out a framework with sufficient detail to produce a proposal for wider consultation. Particular attention was taken to ensure that all instructors had suitable qualifications and experience, key learning points to be taught, monitoring of the lead instructor and audit of all training packages and facilities to ensure excellence.

Carl Stahl Evita Ltd is amongst the first to gain LEEA accreditation. Training Manager, Geoff Burkill says “In order to improve the service to our customers, continued partnership developments particularly with LEEA is very important to us”.
